It's a symbol of the Southwest.
It's a symbol of celebration at RCPM concerts.
And on Apr. 16 Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers will use the sombrero to both raise money for a great cause, and break a world record in an effort we're calling the Sombrero Solution!
All of the net proceeds from the sombreros purchased for the event will go directly to benefit Valley of the Sun United Way.
On Apr. 16 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, the spring training facility of the Arizona Diamondbacks, RCPM will host a concert to celebrate the release of their long awaited new record, Unida Cantina.
During the celebration, Roger, Jim, PH and Nick hope fans will help them break the Guinness World Record for the most people wearing sombreros in one location.
“We came up with the idea of the Sombrero Solution because we wanted to do something audacious and fun that would combine community giving with celebration,” said Clyne. "Let's lend a hand to our neighbors by supporting Valley of the Sun United Way, and while doing it, set a world record!"
Here's your list of things to do: 1) buy a ticket to the show, 2) buy a sombrero or just wear your own to the show. It's that easy! And you don't even have to do it in that order.
Sombreros are currently on sale at Peacetime Goods and coming soon to local businesses around the Phoenix/Tempe area. Stay tuned for more upcoming announcements on where you can purchase them.
Sombreros will be counted AS YOU ENTER Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. So in order for your sombrero to count as part of the record, you need to wear it as you walk into the venue.
Come celebrate with RCPM, donate to a great cause and break a world record!
The Sombrero Solution, coming Apr. 16!
